Bashar Georgis (Georgis Bashar), a highly experienced and accomplished filmmaker from Bangladesh recently relocated to USA. With a career spanning over two decades, Bashar Georgis has made significant contributions to the Bangladeshi audiovisual industry and international broadcast media, earning him widespread recognition and acclaim. He is the founder of Inovasi Films.
Before cutting his teeth as Producer / Director for BBC in 2010, he spent eight years as an Editor & Colorist for TV Commercial, Drama, film and social media for clients around national and globe. He works with writers, planners, lead creative teams, designers, developers and studios. Tools of choice are pen and pad, but he would love to make a mouse and monitor sing too. He loves to get inside the brief and get his hands dirty, bringing sound single-minded strategy to the message. He believes - no matter how big or small, there's always a story to tell...

His directed first web series (6 episodes) named "Overtrump (2023)" a dark comedy thriller - is a massive commercial hit for the OOT platform "Chorki" So far he has worked as director & writer for six short films for "Projonmo wave" which were funded by the US Embassy, Dhaka. Projonmo Wave is a platform that is designated towards enriching the knowledge and ideas of the youth especially towards topics that are sensitive and less discussed in their environment and surrounding. The tasks in these projects as stated by the US State Department are to design, develop, pre-test, disseminate, post-test, and report on a set of communication materials to promote counter violent extremist narratives faced by university students in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet. The films traveled not only in Bangladesh but also participated in world's renowned film festivals. His first directed short film named " The return" was nominated for the festivals like LiftOff Global Network, Pune Short Film Festival, Lift-Off Filmmaker Sessions and IFFSA Toronto (International Film Festival of South Asia Toronto). His other short films from this series named " Face To Face (Mukhomukhi - Bengali title)" got official selections from the festivals like - Burien Film Festival, Goa short film festival, Pune short Film Festival, IFFSA Toronto etc. His last directed short film named "Morning Coffee" was also selected for the opening ceremony of IFFSA Toronto which is one of the top most film festivals in North America. These films have been screened at many National Universities of Bangladesh in presence of US Embassy Officials. Which demonstrates the support and collaboration between the US and Bangladesh in promoting a peaceful and tolerant society. Overall, his short films have made a valuable contribution towards promoting Bangladesh's cultural heritage and promoting peace and understanding both locally and globally.
One of his directed TV Drama series breaks social taboos in Bangladesh named "Ujan Ganger Naiya (Sailing Against The Tide ). (Three season) Which was broadcast in 2014 - 2016; produced by the BBC Media Action and funded by DFID and CIFF. Aired on Government of Bangladesh-owned terrestrial TV channel BTV and ATN Bangla which primarily target the rural populace of the country, the series was received exceedingly well, reaching 35 million people.
