Biography
Avery Fane (formerly Avery Timmins Fane Klenman) is a Canadian-American producer, actor, and broadcaster whose career has unfolded across two continents and three decades. Raised between Canada, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo, he developed an early passion for performance and storytelling, producing local television while still in high school - before relocating to Japan in 1998, a move that would fundamentally shape everything that followed.
In Japan, Avery attended the renowned Shibuya Makuhari Advanced Educational Campus in Chiba before earning his BFA in Asia Pacific Sociology with a minor in International Media Production and Relations from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, where he also taught film production and editing as a teaching assistant. He later completed an EMBA with a strategic leadership focus from Quantic's Valar School of Business in Washington DC (2025).
During his nearly decade-long residency in Japan, Avery worked as Director, Producer, Reporter, and On-Air Host for Beppu Cable Television, producing three weekly talk shows simultaneously. He served as an on-air language teacher for NHK, worked as a production assistant across NHK, NTV, TV Asahi, TV Tokyo, and Fuji TV, and developed a reputation as one of the most connected English-Japanese bilingual creatives in the country.
His acting career spans over 100 productions across Japan and North America. From recurring roles in major Japanese network dramas (Sekai Gyoten News, Kiseki Taiken! Anbiribabo, Nodame Cantabile, Densha Otoko) to Canadian genre films and television series including The Flash, Altered Carbon, Legends of Tomorrow, Death Note, Skyscraper, and Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas. He is affiliated with ACTRA (Canadian actors' union), worked extensively with the Directors Guild of Canada (Assistant Directors branch), as well as a few strong years with IATSE and a proud Teamster as well.
As a producer, Avery has executive-produced, produced, or co-produced over fifteen projects, serving as Series Producer on the TV series Red X Flags. He led Bridgevale Management/Pictures as SVP of Operations and Head of Social Media for sixteen years (2004-2020), overseeing international production and development until the company's closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic. From the ashes rose Rezonate Pictures, carrying the torch to this day.
A noted cultural and business bridge between Japan and the West, Avery has served as a consultant, translator, casting, and liaison for clients including Sony, Nintendo, FOX, and Netflix. He subsequently joined GPlusMedia as a Producer at Japan Today, a publication he has followed since its inception.
Beyond the screen, Avery is known for a 2008 Canadian car chase commercial for Midas that went viral and earned praise from Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime talk show, accumulating millions of views on YouTube. His work ethic is guided by a commitment to storytelling that crosses borders: cultural, linguistic, and cinematic alike.
