Biography
Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1958, she has been performing since the age of six. Her mother was a photo model, and her father was a conductor, composer, pianist, singer, arranger, music producer, and founding member of The Cariocas, the group that popularized Bossa Nova. Trained in theater at Tablado, she directed her career towards television, which is far more popular than cinema in Brazil. She began working at Globo TV, Brazil's largest network, in 1980 and founded her own production company, Canela Prod Art, in 1982, launching independent productions for theater, television, and film. Although her academic background is in journalism, she also holds degrees in Avid Editing, Final Cut, Premiere, Cinematography, and digital cinema. As a director, she has received awards from the New York Festivals for the TV series Terra Brasil, produced in Cinema. She directed, produced, and wrote the films ME, MY FATHER and THE CARIOCAS - 70 Years of Music in Brazil, which opened the It's All True International Documentary Film Festival in 2017.
