Biography
Melique Berger is a celebrated Hollywood voiceover artist and a Black, Jewish, Queer woman with over 30 years of experience in the industry. She is famously known for her iconic line, "You don't know me!" as Mrs. Pancakes on the Emmy Award-winning series "Rick and Morty." Her dedication and passion have earned her roles in popular shows and films spanning animation, ADR, and looping. In 2024, she portrayed the demi-goddess Viozalia in Nickelodeon's "Fairly OddParents: A New Wish," which received a nomination for Outstanding Show Open at the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) 3rd Annual Children's & Family Emmy® Awards.
Melique is a four-time nominee of the One Voice Awards, including a nomination for Best Actor, and she won Best Animation Actor. She also received nominations for Outstanding Body of Work and Best Voice Actor from the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAS).
Her video game credits include "Heroes of Might and Magic IV: Winds of War," "Resident Evil 5," "Aliens: Fireteam Elite," and "The Signifier." She voiced Coffee in "Cowboy Bebop" and the Great Fairy Kaysa in "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity." On television, Melique lent her voice to characters such as Vanessa in "The Boondocks," Theodosia and Wilhamina in "OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes," Chief Bea, Belinda, and Bonnie in "The Cuphead Show!," and roles in "Spidey and His Amazing Friends." She also voiced Fish in "Dr. Dolittle 2," Nurse in the TV mini-series "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners," and Queen Skarlet in Disney's "Droners Season 2."
Her work extends to projects like "Justice League: Throne of Atlantis," "Justice League: War," "Scooby-Doo! Abracadabra-Doo," "Close to Home: Murder in the Coalfield," and "The Life & Times of Tim." Melique narrated Investigation Discovery's "Chaos in Court."
She starred in and directed Rain Pryor’s "Fried Chicken & Latkes," a multi-nominated, award-winning adult-themed animated short. The film won the Bronze Award for Best Animation Short, and Melique earned the Bronze Award for Best Female First Time Director at the 2024 Independent Shorts Awards. The short was featured at AfroComicCon International Film Festival 2024, Night of Comedy Shorts (4th Period Awards: March - June 2024) for Best Animated Comedy, CineOdyssey Animation Festival, and Venice Shorts Los Angeles. It also won Best Ensemble - Short at the Columbia Maryland Film Festival.
Melique’s ADR and looping credits include "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," "X-Men," "Insecure," "Atypical," "The Goldbergs," "Fight Club," "The Help," and more.
In 2010, she founded Berger’s Reels LA: A Company of Voice Over Actors, a conservatory designed to support aspiring and working voiceover actors in maintaining their skills. She created the unique acting method "Art of the Pivot©," which aids voice actors in character development.
Melique is a member of SAG-AFTRA®, ASIFA (International Animated Film Society), and the National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA). She also serves as a board member for SOVAS.
