Biography
Motokatsu Suzuki is a Japanese actor, sword-fighting choreographer, and founder of Samurai Code Lab, combining traditional martial arts with film, AI, and digital innovation.
His screen credits include *Yu Yu Hakusho* (2023, Netflix), *Like a Dragon: Beyond the Game* (2024, Amazon Prime Video), *The 13 Lords of the Shogun* (2022, NHK), and the live-action film *Donketsu* (2023, DMM TV). He also starred as Vice Admiral Saito in *NHK Special: The Battle of Guadalcanal - Tragic Commander* (2020) and will appear in the upcoming manga-based TV drama *Ai ga Yuku* (2025, in production).
With over 25 years of experience in tate (Japanese stage combat), Motokatsu holds a 3rd-dan in iaido (specializing in live-blade cutting), a 2nd-dan in kyudo (Japanese archery), and has logged over 300 rides in horseback training, including yabusame (Japanese horseback archery). He also practices karate (1st-dan), aikido, jujutsu, boxing, and kickboxing, mastering both classical and modern combat forms.
A former systems engineer, Motokatsu bridges performance and technology, developing AI-driven trading systems (EA) and exploring the use of NFTs and DAOs as new funding models for film production. His goal is to become an executive producer who creates globally connected, innovation-driven cinematic projects.
After teaching sword performance to international students and actors, Motokatsu is now expanding his work to North America, collaborating with creators in Vancouver and beyond. His work embodies the modern samurai: disciplined, creative, and devoted to mastering both the physical and digital arts.
