Biography
Hassan Fathi, born on September 2, 1959, in Tehran (Persian: حسن فتحی), is an Iranian director and screenwriter known for his work in film and television. He is best recognized for popular TV series such as Heroes Never Die, Lighter Than Darkness, and Zero Degree Turn. He is also the father of Amirhossein Fathi, a young actor.
Fathi holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Shahid Beheshti University and a master's degree in directing from Islamic Azad University of Tehran. A creative dramatist and psychologist, he began his artistic career acting in college theatre. He entered the professional art world in 1989 by writing theater and cinema critiques for journals like Soroush, Tamashakhaneh, Donyayetassvir, and Namayesh, as well as engaging in theater writing and directing. This work also positions him as a researcher in art and cinema.
In 1993, he transitioned into television, creating TV series, and in 2004, he entered Iranian cinema with the film Marriage, Iranian Style. Fathi also serves as a professor at various universities and currently manages education at the Art and Cultural Institute of Karname.
His major Iranian TV series include Zero Degree Turn and Shahrzad. Other notable works over 18 years in television are Hamsayeha, Pahlevanan Nemimirand, Farad Dir Ast, Shabe Dahom, Mive Mamnooe, Lighter Than Darkness, Tears and Smiles, and Dar Masire Zayandeh Rood. His tele-theaters include A Murder Mystery and Mousetrap, along with the telefilm Manuscript.
