Biography
Walugula Emmanuel is a Ugandan teacher, filmmaker and actor from Eastern Uganda, specifically Busoga in Jinja City, where he was born and raised. He is a passionate educator and filmmaker involved in acting, directing, and supporting the growth of Uganda’s film industry. Emmanuel holds a Bachelor of Arts with Education from Kyambogo University in Kampala where he trained as a professional teacher. Alongside his teaching career, he pursued his passion for film and storytelling obtaining further training in film directing and acting at Cine Arts Academy in Colorado, United States through their online training. His journey in the film industry began in 2017, and since then he has steadily built a reputation as a talented actor in Uganda’s growing film sector. He gained widespread recognition for his starring roles in the award-winning films "Kagoya, 2024," "Within Us, 2025," and "At Sixteen, 2026" at the regional Film Competitions by the Uganda Film Festival. His performances in Within Us and At Sixteen earned him the Best Actor award, highlighting his ability to portray complex and emotionally compelling characters. Beyond these acclaimed productions, Emmanuel has also appeared in several other films including "Beneath Beauty by Faisha pictures," "Speak by KPM entertainment" and "Goolo," a production by Savanah Moon and M.Net. His acting portfolio also extends to television, where he has featured in series such as "The Uncles by Bitch Films," "Kadaga by KPM entertainment," "Hotel Mara," and "Boarders by Floating Duck Productions. In addition to his work on screen, Walugula Emmanuel is a committed advocate for the growth of the Ugandan film industry. He is one of the founders of the Kiira Filmmakers' Association, an umbrella organization that brings together filmmakers in Uganda to promote collaboration, skill development, and the advancement of local storytelling. Through his work as a teacher, actor, filmmaker, and industry organizer, Emmanuel continues to contribute to both education and the creative arts, inspiring emerging filmmakers and actors across Uganda.
