Biography
Michael Rowe, best known for portraying the iconic DC Comics antihero Deadshot, originally pursued a career in music. Hailing from St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, he spent a decade as a songwriter and drummer for the post-hardcore/punk band Bucket Truck, performing alongside notable acts such as NOFX, Slayer, Fishbone, and D.O.A. Following the band's breakup, he relocated to Vancouver, where his brother Andrew was starting his filmmaking career. New to the film industry, Michael began producing and acting in his brother's digital comedy shorts. Their short film "Sleepy Stories" gained popularity at film festivals, followed by the award-winning, Whistler Film Festival/MPPIA-supported "Vehicular Romanticide."
Refocusing his career, Michael took classes at The Actor's Foundry in East Vancouver before landing a recurring role as the popular supervillain Deadshot on the CW's hit series Arrow. His comedic background allowed him to infuse the character with a distinctive, darkly offbeat energy, making Deadshot a fan favorite. In 2016, he transitioned from one lethal comic book assassin to another when cast as Ninjak, the lead in Valiant Comics' live-action series "Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe," scheduled for release in 2017.
In addition to his work in DC and Valiant projects, Michael continues collaborating with his brother on independent films. They recently completed production on their debut feature, Crown and Anchor, a dark family drama set in St. John's, Newfoundland, in which Michael stars as the lead character, James Downey. The film is expected to be released in 2017.
