Biography
Mig Macario has appeared in over 50 film and TV projects, along with numerous commercials and stage plays, spanning the past three decades. He was featured in the talented ensemble cast of Dan Gilroy's Velvet Buzzsaw (2019) on Netflix, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, Toni Collette, Rene Russo, Daveed Diggs, and Zawe Ashton. Mig also portrayed the iconic character "Bashful," one of the seven dwarfs, on the popular series Once Upon a Time (2011), starring Ginnifer Goodwin, Lana Parrilla, and Robert Carlyle. His guest and recurring roles include appearances in Ruby Herring Mysteries, S.W.A.T., Kidding, and The Order. Additionally, he has been seen in US national commercials collaborating with directors and agencies such as Jake Szmanski, Nick Ball, Gifted Youth, Partizan, and Hungry Man.
Mr. Macario began his training at the Vancouver Youth Theatre during his early teens and was a member of the inaugural Firehall Cross-Cultural Apprenticeship program. He has taken classes and workshops across North America, including at Upright Citizens Brigade, Jeffrey Marcus Studios, and with David Rotenberg. Mig has also had the privilege of teaching on-camera acting at UCLA Extension.
Throughout his extensive career, Mig has worked with notable figures such as Johnny Depp, Jenny McCarthy, and Robin Williams. His theatrical foundation was built with the Vancouver Youth Theatre, Axis Mime Theatre, and through touring Shakespeare productions with Manitoba Theatre for Young People. He received a Jessie Award nomination for his role as Song Liling in David Henry Hwang’s Tony Award-winning play, M. Butterfly.
Mig splits his time between Vancouver and Los Angeles and is a dedicated practicing Buddhist with Soka Gakkai International, an organization that fosters peace, culture, and education. His fluency in Tagalog proved essential during his volunteer work in the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan. He remains active in his community, recently assisting those impacted by the LA fires. Mig’s mission is to continue acting, creating meaningful work that authentically represents the AAPI and LGBTQ+ communities. He aspires to spend his life near the beach, surrounded by friends and family.
