Biography
Paulo de Oliveira has built a career spanning more than 25 years as a television programming executive and producer, with experience at major media companies such as HBO, Disney, and NBC Universal. He has worked on series including Outlander, Monk, Psych, Battlestar Galactica, and Eureka.
He produced the Outlander TV series, adapted from Diana Gabaldon's best-selling novels, which he successfully sold to Starz in partnership with Sony TV and showrunner Ronald D. Moore, creator of Battlestar Galactica. The series was initially greenlit for a 16-episode first season straight-to-series order, with Paulo serving as Co-Executive Producer. It went on to receive multiple renewals and international awards.
Until recently, Paulo served as a series development consultant for MBC Studios, the production division of the Middle East Broadcast Center, the largest media company in the MENA region. Based in Dubai, he advised the studio on acquiring intellectual property as well as recruiting writing, directing, and acting talent from the US for innovative English and Arabic language productions.
As Senior Vice President of Scripted Development and Executive Producer at Omnifilm Entertainment, a leading Canadian production company, he developed and executive produced The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco, which aired on US streamer Britbox, City TV, ITV, and Netflix International.
Prior to that, he spent over a decade at Universal Television and NBC Universal, ultimately serving as Senior Vice President of Cable Programming. There, he developed and oversaw cable TV series for USA Network and SyFy Channel, including USA Network's popular shows Monk and Psych, as well as SyFy's hit series Eureka and Battlestar Galactica. He also served as the on-set creative producer for Eureka's first season and the pilot episode of Psych.
