Biography

During his time as a high school exchange student in Japan, Herbert Wright developed a lifelong passion for martial arts and filmmaking after meeting the iconic director Akira Kurosawa. Graduating with honors from Yale, Wright pursued a successful career in Hollywood as a filmmaker. He has served as producer, writer, and director on popular TV shows including Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), War of the Worlds (1988), Hunter (1984), and Stingray (1986), producing over 200 episodes. Fans of Star Trek recognize the Emmy-nominated Wright as the "Father of the Ferengi," having created the infamous space villains at Gene Roddenberry's request. Currently, he is producing, writing, and directing Mars and Beyond (2000), the first original made-for-the-Net science fiction series, airing on the Cyber Sci-Fi Network.
