Biography
Barry Duffield was born in 1962 in Billingham, UK. In 1969, he and his family emigrated to Australia, eventually settling in Nhulunbuy, a Bauxite mining town in the Northern Territory.
His initial venture into filmmaking involved "borrowing" his father's Super 8mm camera to create the lively stop-motion Salt'N'Pepper shaker show, which featured an uncredited cameo by a half-finished milkshake in a frosty glass.
After being caught stealing movie posters from the Gove cinema foyer, Barry was given the choice between police involvement, parental discipline, or working honestly. He chose the latter and was taught to operate the cinema's projection booth. Soon, he was proficient in splicing film, replacing carbon rods, and managing reel changes.
His enthusiasm for cinema deepened, leading him to attend South Seas Film and Television School in Auckland, New Zealand, where he specialized in screenwriting and directing.
Barry launched his acting career in Darwin with a Kawasaki commercial, followed by roles in Brisbane on Australia's Most Wanted and Escape from Absolom. He then relocated to New Zealand, appearing in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena, Young Hercules, Jack of All Trades, Shortland Street, Street Legal, Field Punishment #1, The Monster of Treasure Island, and Spartacus as Lugo.
In addition to acting, Barry has authored two successful graphic novels available on Amazon and is now venturing into producing.
