Biography
Supinder Wraich, an Indian-born Canadian storyteller, is celebrated for her fearless performances and genuine presence. Born in Chandigarh and raised in Toronto’s Rexdale area, she holds a BA in Communications from the University of Ottawa, honed her skills at Sheridan College's Advanced Film & Television program, and completed a residency at the renowned Canadian Film Centre's Actors Conservatory.
Her screen credits include notable series such as The Expanse, The Good Doctor, Rookie Blue, The Strain, and Private Eyes. She gained widespread recognition with her breakout role in the award-winning web thriller Guidestones, portraying a journalism student caught in a global conspiracy. This compelling role earned her a Canadian Screen Award and showcased her distinctive blend of intensity and vulnerability.
Wraich created, wrote, and starred in The 410, playing a young South Asian woman who, after her father's arrest, manages her family’s trucking business, which is actually a drug smuggling front. Her nuanced and authentic portrayal brought complexity to a flawed anti-hero and highlighted real South Asian cultural challenges. The 410 received three Canadian Screen Award nominations: Best Web Program or Series, Fiction; Best Writing, Web Program or Series; and Lead Performance, Web Program or Series.
Currently, she is best known for her lead role in CBC’s procedural drama Allegiance. As Constable Sabrina Sohal, a Sikh rookie cop in Surrey, British Columbia, she starts in uniform and advances to the Special Crimes Unit in Season 2. Her character’s journey, balancing adherence to protocol with emotional intuition, deepened her performance and earned her a second Canadian Screen Award. She stars alongside acclaimed Canadian actors including Enrico Colantoni, Stephen Lobo, and Samer Salem.
Beyond acting, Wraich explores storytelling as a writer and director with short films like Chinesey and Ruby's Tuesday. Dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices, she infuses her work with bold creativity and cultural authenticity.
