Biography

Maureen Hingert was born on January 9, 1937, in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), of Dutch descent, to Lionel Hingert and Lorna Mabel del Run. Her father served as president of the Bank of Ceylon and owned significant tea plantations. At 18, on June 25, 1955, she was crowned "Miss Ceylon" in Colombo.

In October 1955, she debuted on screen portraying a Native American in Universal-International's "Pillars of the Sky" and was later signed by 20th Century-Fox to appear in The King and I (1956). Hingert married Montrose artist Mario Armand Zamparelli in 1958. Their daughter Regina, born on May 8, 1959, in Los Angeles, became the well-known concert promoter Gina Zamparelli. She also had two other daughters, Marisa and Andrea. Hingert and Zamparelli divorced in July 1970. In March 1976, she married William J. Ballard in Los Angeles.
