Biography
Jamie Donnelly is recognized for her wide smile and bubbly personality. A seasoned actress across stage, television, and film, she is a cult icon linked to two significant 20th-century cultural milestones: the original "Rocky Horror Show" at the Roxy in Los Angeles and on Broadway alongside Tim Curry, where she originated the roles of Trixie and Magenta, and "Grease" on Broadway and in the film with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, portraying Jan, the "brusha brusha" Pink Lady.
Raised in New Jersey with views of New York City's sparkling skyline across the river, Jamie performed in numerous summer stock musicals before making her Broadway debut at seventeen in Kander and Ebb's "Flora, The Red Menace." She understudied Liza Minnelli’s Tony-winning lead role and created the character of Lulu. A favorite among New York theatergoers, she starred in several Broadway musicals, including "George M" at the Palace Theatre opposite Joel Grey. One cherished memory is learning "Falling in Love with Love" from Richard Rodgers, which she performed at the Helen Hayes Theater in "Rodgers and Hart."
Jamie’s career also includes off-Broadway work in the original cast of "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown," regional theater performances such as "Hot L Baltimore" under playwright Lanford Wilson's direction, a recurring role as Dusty Maguire on the soap opera "The Guiding Light," guest appearances on TV series like "Policewoman" and "Barnaby Jones," and television movies including "The Dream Makers," where she played a country western star alongside James Franciscus.
In another beloved chapter, Jamie spent years on a Montana ranch riding horses and writing screenplays for Hollywood, including "Desperado" inspired by the Eagles’ album, collaborating with her husband, novelist Stephen H. Foreman ("Toehold"). They have two children, Sevi (born 1987) and Madden (born 1989), both talented musicians. While raising her children, Jamie became a respected acting coach to some of Hollywood’s finest actors and actresses.
She returned to the screen starring opposite Marisa Tomei and John C. Reilly in a Duplass Brothers film from Fox Searchlight, guest-starred in the final season of the Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning series "Monk," appeared on Nickelodeon's "Naked Brothers Band," and Lifetime's "Legend of Lucy Keyes." It’s fitting that Jamie’s blood type is genuinely "B Positive.
