Biography
Michael David Selig, also known as M.D. Selig, is from Hot Springs, Arkansas.
His debut feature as Writer, Director, and Lead Actor, Southern Justice, was distributed by ThinkFilm and made available in all major video outlets. Southern Justice also enjoyed a 1.5-year run on Showtime and Netflix.
Selig’s latest pilot, The Gunrunner Billy Kane, a futuristic sci-fi western series, is now streaming on Amazon Prime. The cast includes Angela Elayne Gibbs, John Kassir (Jack the Giant Slayer), Mark Arnold (Blade Runner), and M.D. Selig (Zero Dark Thirty) in the lead role as rogue doctor Billy Kane.
Selig serves as the Series Creator, Writer, Director, and Producer.
He recently directed Josh Duhamel (Transformers, Taco Bell) in a commercial campaign for the "Iron Throne" video game by Netmarble, writing and directing all nine commercials featuring Duhamel.
Primarily an actor, Selig had a speaking role in Zero Dark Thirty and various independent films, continuing to act in numerous indie projects.
He earned a B.A. in History with a theater minor from the University of Arkansas. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Marines and completed Navy flight training as a Marine Pilot, flying the A-6E Intruder all-weather attack jet. A decorated combat veteran of Desert Storm with 43 combat missions, he received the Air Medal with combat "V" distinction.
After leaving the military in 1993, Selig relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in filmmaking.
He divides his time between Los Angeles and Carmel/Big Sur, California, where he continues to write and produce. He enjoys "off-grid" adventures with his 11-year-old daughter, Vyla, and friends at their small cabin in Big Sur, where Vyla leads hikes and explorations.
