Biography
Vivieno Caldinelli is a Canadian director who has transformed his childhood obsessions, fears, and unique comedic perspective into an award-winning directing career.
Last summer, Vivieno directed the dark comedy feature SEVEN STAGES. The film boasts an impressive cast including Kate Miccuci, Sam Huntington, Dan Harmon, Mark McKinney, Maria Bamford, Dana Gould, Jon Dore, Rhea Seahorn, and Taika Waititi. It premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and was produced by Company X (Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah, and Josh C. Waller) alongside MarVista Entertainment.
In previous years, Vivieno led four films: the acclaimed horror-comedy PORTAL TO HELL!!! starring the late Roddy Piper, and the MacDonald Hall Trilogy consisting of GO JUMP IN THE POOL, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL, and THE WIZZLE WAR. The trilogy debuted on NETFLIX in 2017.
Most recently, Vivieno directed episodes for season 5 of BARONESS VON SKETCH (CBC, IFC) in Toronto. Before that, he served as director and executive producer on the half-hour sketch comedy pilot HUMANTOWN for CBC and directed a two-part episode of the Emmy Award-winning series ODD SQUAD, featuring guest stars The Kids In The Hall.
Vivieno is especially known for directing the last four seasons of the long-running Canadian comedy staple THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES (CBC), which has remained a prime-time favorite on Canadian television for 25 consecutive years.
Earlier in his career, Vivieno worked as a producer and director on Canadian sketch-comedy cult favorites HOTBOX and PICNICFACE, with Executive Producer Mark McKinney. Both series continue to attract dedicated new viewers on Hulu, CraveTV (Canada), and likely other platforms.
