Biography
With 17 years in the film industry, Christopher Bates has traveled globally to shoot over 25 studio and independent feature films on location across the USA, Europe, and Asia. Chris has expertise spanning development to post-production and co-founded a digital media services company based in Los Angeles.
As a Line Producer in China, Chris recently prepared "Man of Tai Chi," directed by Keanu Reeves in Winter/Spring 2012, and completed the feature film "Man with the Iron Fists" for Universal Pictures, directed by RZA of Wu-Tang Clan. Produced by Marc Abraham, Quentin Tarantino, and Eli Roth, Iron Fists stars Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, RZA, Cung Le, and Dave Bautista, among others, and was scheduled for worldwide release in late 2012.
Additionally, Maxmedia's team has participated in the production, acquisition, and distribution of international films including "The Others," "Vanilla Sky," "Sea Inside," "Abre Los Ojos," "Sky Blue," and "Emperor and the Assassin." Early in his career, Chris worked with Filmwerks and director Albert Pyun, producing fast-paced action movies in diverse global locations.
From 2003 to 2007, Chris co-managed MESoft, a media services company specializing in secure worldwide media transfers for Hollywood studios and production companies. In 2007, the company was acquired by venture capital firm Sid Bass Associates.
