Biography
Sandie West is a Los Angeles-based director, producer, screenwriter, SAG actor, festival curator, and BAFTA voting member known for her work in independent film, punk culture documentaries, wellness media, and live event production. With a multidisciplinary career spanning filmmaking, acting, stunt performance, festival curation, and holistic wellness, West has become recognized for blending underground artistic culture with transformational storytelling.
Originally from London, West studied improvisation and performance in the UK and collaborated with Eddie Izzard in the early 1990s before continuing her studies in Los Angeles at Second City and ImprovOlympic between 2000 and 2005. Her creative roots in London’s West End theatre scene helped shape her distinctive hybrid style of documentary realism, improvisation, and visual storytelling.
West is the founder and director of Beach Dancer Films, where she develops film, television, documentary, and web series projects as both a solo filmmaker and collaborative showrunner. Her current slate includes multiple feature films and documentary productions in various stages of development and production, including The Fixer (2026).
Her directing and producing credits include We Are the Flowers in Your Dustbin (2017), a documentary project exploring punk culture and underground artistic movements, along with Phishing for Love, Insidious, and several independent productions currently in development. As an actress and stunt performer, West’s credits include work on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, where she performed as a Pink Power Ranger stunt double, as well as appearances in The Drew Carey Show, Blood Work, On Deadly Ground, and other television and film productions dating back to 1994.
West is also widely recognized for her contributions to independent film festivals and arts programming. She is the creator and producer of the LA Punk Film Festival, now celebrating its 10th year, and founder of the Creative Chakra Film Festival, entering its 6th year in 2026. Her festival work focuses on independent cinema, punk culture, wellness-inspired storytelling, music documentaries, and emerging filmmakers.
In addition to founding her own festivals, West has curated and produced numerous cultural and industry events, including the Native American-focused 1st Americans in the Arts, the Venice Media District, Cannes Industry showcases, Los Angeles comedy showcases, and independent shorts programming. She has also contributed to BAFTA Student Film and Digital committees, supporting talent development and emerging creatives.
Outside of filmmaking, West is the founder of Creative Chakra Spa & Yoga, an immersive wellness and creative culture platform blending Ayurveda, yoga, retreats, film, music, and healing arts. She is also the author of Being a Chakra Zen Master, a guide focused on mindfulness and wellness practices. Through her wellness work, she has taught programs and workshops for clients including Johnson & Johnson and Unilever.
West continues to develop independent films, documentary series, festivals, and retreat experiences internationally, including a planned writers retreat in Grenada in 2027.
