Biography
George Lefferts is a Writer/Producer/Director of television dramas,motion pictures,documentaries, and plays, and a former columnist for The New York Observer. He has won three Emmy Awards, for "The Purex Specials for Women", [Best Documentary Series, NBC]; "The Lives of Benjamin Franklin", [Best Miniseries, CBS]; and "Teacher, Teacher", [Best Drama. CBS]. He has also won the Golden Globe Award of the Foreign Press Association for "Specials for Women", NBC; the Albert Lasker Medical Award for "What Price Health", with Sen. Ted Kennedy, NBC; two consecutive New England Press Ass'n First Place Awards for Best Weekly Newspaper Column for "The New York Observer" & "The Litchfield County Times"]; the National Media Award for "The Trapped Housewife, Purex Specials for Women" NBC; the Cine Golden Eagle Award for Best Industrial Film for "Moonflights & Medicine", for Merck; the Producers Guild Award for "The Breaking Point", ABC; the Peabody Award for "Biographies in Sound", NBC; the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Award for "Medical Emergency", NBC; a nomination for the Christopher Award for Outstanding Writing for "Never Say Goodbye", CBS; and the Writers Guild Award for "One Life to Live", ABC.
