Biography
Emmanuel Moire, born on 16 June 1979 in Le Mans, is a French singer-songwriter renowned for his role as Louis XIV in the French musical Le Roi Soleil.
He has released four albums: Là où je pars (2006), L'Équilibre (2009), Le chemin (2013), and La Rencontre (2015). Moire is a vocalist and pianist, with a repertoire of around one hundred songs. In December 2012, he won the TV competition Danse avec les Stars.
At 21, Emmanuel was selected for the 16th Astaffort meeting, a workshop for songwriters and performers. From 2004 to 2007, he played Louis XIV in the hit musical Le Roi Soleil, alongside Christophe Maé and Merwan Rim.
His debut solo album, Là où je pars, was released on 13 November 2006. Influenced by British pop, the album emphasized melodies alongside emotional expression. Featuring piano, vocals, and guitar, it explored themes of love, pain, and life's small joys. On Facebook, Emmanuel described the album as addressing universal themes in a personal way, inviting listeners into his world so they could find their own stories. He noted the collaborative nature of the project, involving close associates from Astaffort, including Claire Joseph, Yann Guillon, Benoît Poher, Davide Esposito, and Christophe Beucher. The album’s lead single was "Le Sourire."
His second album, L'Équilibre, released in April 2009, featured tracks like "Adulte et Sexy" and "Sans dire un mot," both accompanied by music videos. The song "Sois Tranquille" holds special significance; in an interview with Deborah Laurent for 7sur7, Emmanuel explained that although the music was composed before his brother's passing, the lyrics served as a tribute to him. After losing his brother on 28 January, he chose to focus on a positive and spiritual homage rather than expressing his grief directly, lending his voice to honor his brother's memory.
In 2007, Emmanuel represented France at the Sopot Festival in Poland, performing "Ça me fait du bien" and finishing second to the Polish band Feel.
In 2019, he competed in Destination Eurovision with the song "La promesse," aiming to represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. He finished fourth overall.
Emmanuel and his twin brother Nicolas were both born in Le Mans on 16 June 1979.
In early 2008, Emmanuel was struck by a car outside his Paris home, sustaining a sprained ankle and three cracked ribs, which led him to cancel a performance in Strasbourg and miss the NRJ Music Awards.
Tragically, on 12 January 2009, his twin brother Nicolas was hit by a car, entering a coma and passing away two weeks later on 28 January at the age of 29.
