Biography
Vanessa Ciangherotti is a Mexican actress known for her work in film, theater, and television melodramas for TV Azteca. She hails from the Soler acting dynasty in Mexico and is the daughter of actor Fernando Luján, with siblings Cassandra Ciangherotti and Fernando Ciangherotti also in the acting profession. She was married to actor Roberto Sosa from 1996 to 2002.
Trained in theater, Vanessa comes from an artistic lineage that spans over a century, including actors, directors, producers, and writers. She began studying dramatic arts, stage direction, and dramaturgy at an early age with top instructors in Mexico, Colombia, Canada, the United States, and England.
Her professional acting career started in 1989 under notable Mexican directors. She spent three years with the acclaimed independent theater group Taller del Sótano, performing in international festivals across six countries with the play El Otro Exilio, a tribute to Albert Camus.
Throughout her career, Vanessa has appeared in various mediums. On television, she starred in Todo por amor and Se busca un hombre. Her theater credits include Bellas atroces, Malcolm, and Chicas católicas.
In film, she featured in Paty Chula, which won the Ariel Award in 1992, and Sonríe, which received the Ariel Award in 1998. In 2011, she earned the Silver Goddess (Pecime) award for best actress.
As a stage director, her debut production was Pita en cuatro tiempos, presented at the Fourth International Cabaret Festival, CDMS, where she won Best Direction. She received the same award at the VI Theater Festival in Lima, Peru. She collaborated with the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences on the production of the 2010 Ariel Award Show, directed by Hector Bonilla.
In television, she directed the social content series Lo que callamos las mujeres for six years on TV Azteca, as well as the series Bajo el alma for Azteca 7. Recently, she has directed various productions for Microteatro México and Teatro en corto. After 27 years working both in front of and behind the camera, Ciangherotti is currently establishing her own audiovisual content and production company, with her first series titled Ciencia bruja.
