Biography
Gregory M. Brown is an actor, writer, director, and producer.
Born in Irvington, New Jersey, Gregory M. Brown is the son of Warren John Brown, a stage actor, singer, and musician performing at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, and Nell Joyce (Garlick) Brown, who was a housewife at the time. His mother later became the first female member of the Stock Transfer Agents Association in New York while managing at Union Pacific Corporation. Greg is the eldest of three children, with a sister, Suzanne Tara (Brown) Jordan, and a brother, David Patrick Brown.
At six years old, his parents divorced after thirteen years of marriage. Greg, his mother, and siblings moved in with his maternal grandparents in Paterson, New Jersey, where he was raised. He attended Eastside High School, famed for the movie Lean on Me featuring Morgan Freeman, graduating in 1966. Greg remained in Paterson until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in November 1967. In 1968, he served a tour in Vietnam aboard the USS Steinaker (DD-863), a Navy destroyer, and completed two additional deployments to the Caribbean and North Atlantic before transferring to Fighter Squadron 101 at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia. With a talent for electronics and the emerging computer industry, Greg learned computer programming while in the Navy. After leaving active duty in 1971, he began working in information technology on Wall Street, eventually retiring as a Vice President from J.P. Morgan Chase in 2005.
Although Greg enjoyed performing in church and school plays during his teenage years, he postponed pursuing acting professionally due to his parents' divorce and his mother's disapproval. Out of respect for her, he waited until age 59, after retiring from both J.P. Morgan Chase and the military, to begin his acting career.
Between 2008 and 2016, Greg has had a successful acting career, appearing in over 45 shorts, commercials, TV shows, and feature films.
He completed filming Stephen King's "Willa," released in 2012, portraying the character Henry Lander alongside Clayton Watson.
Two recent films featuring Greg have received various awards at film festivals nationwide: Rick Alverson's "The Comedy" (2012) with Tim Heidecker, and Sloan Copeland's "Wet Behind The Ears" (2013) with Maggie Williams.
Greg finished shooting the short film "Deep Water" in Alaska, scheduled for release later in 2013.
He recently completed filming the indie movie "Stuff" (2015) with Yvonne Jung and Karen Sillas, playing the role of Grandpa.
Greg was cast in the recurring role of Charlie Shea in the series "The Familia" (2014).
He was also cast as Lionel Frost in a recurring role on the series "Big Sky" (2017).
