Biography
Born in an ashram from which her family had to flee, Ramaa's life reads like a movie. She is a writer-director who created her first film at fifteen, earning the Global 500 award. A year later, Mosley was discovered and began directing music videos and commercials. Over the past two decades, she has directed feature films and hundreds of acclaimed commercials, establishing her reputation through action-packed and authentic human stories.
Recognized as one of Shoot Magazine's top 10 female directors, she founded Adolescent Content, a Global Creative Youth Studio, and recently delivered a TED Talk titled "The Power of Adolescent Directors," sharing her experience as a teen filmmaker.
Mosley has a strong passion for science fiction and action genres, as well as a profound love for comic books. She directed her debut feature film, "The Brass Teapot," based on a comic book she co-wrote, starring Juno Temple. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, was distributed by Magnolia Pictures, and in 2015 received nominations for the International Critics Award and Saturn Award.
In 2014, Mosley directed the Afghan segment of "Girl Rising," which was nominated for Outstanding Documentary at the Image Awards. Since then, she has become an outspoken advocate for girls' and women's rights worldwide, launching the U.S. social media campaign for Bring Back Our Girls.
Her second feature film, the dramatic thriller "Tatterdemalion" (also known as "Lost Child"), which she directed and co-wrote, is set for theatrical release in September 2018. Filmed in the Ozarks, it stars Levin Rambin, Taylor John Smith, and Jim Parrack. Mosley is based in Los Angeles.
