Biography

John Robert Borkowski was born in South Bend, Indiana, to Betty Anne (Glad), a former lead pediatric nurse, and Robert (Bob) George Borkowski, owner of Borkowski Advertising. His father was of full Polish descent, while his mother’s family was entirely Swedish. John's mother passed away when he was 7, and his father died two weeks before his 10th birthday. The youngest of four siblings, he was raised primarily by his oldest sister, Kathryn. In junior high, John saved enough money to buy a season ticket to the newly opened South Bend Century Center theater, where he loved immersing himself in the performances. He later lived on a tugboat in Michigan during summers away from Ball State University, where he took his first acting class. After college, he spent five years as General Manager of Atlanta International Raceway (now Atlanta Motor Speedway). A chance casting director workshop with Marc Hirschfeld in Tampa, Florida, inspired him to load his car and move to Los Angeles. Within six months, he landed work that earned him his SAG card. John met his wife on the CBS Radford lot, and together they have three daughters. He has also worked behind the camera, directing and producing various projects.
