Biography

Lester Barrie is a Christian pastor based in Southern California, a professional stand-up comedian, and a former film and television actor. Since 2011, he has served as the Senior Pastor of Bible Believers Missionary Baptist Church in Lakewood, CA. Barrie also performs stand-up comedy at clubs, colleges, and churches nationwide. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, he graduated from the University of Southern California. In 2006, he founded Perfecting Christian Fellowship Church in Carson, California. After several years of relocation, this ministry merged with Bible Believers MBC in 2011. Barrie has achieved considerable success in stand-up comedy, notably winning Best Comedian on Star Search in 1993, surpassing a young Dave Chappelle. In 1999, he hosted a season of Comic View on Black Entertainment Television. His most recent televised stand-up performance was on Martin Lawrence's "First Amendment Stand Up" on the STARZ Network in 2009. He continues to perform regularly at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood and Long Beach, California. Barrie also had moderate success with small acting roles, including guest appearances on Fox’s and Sci-Fi Network’s Sliders, and is best known for his guest role as the Preacher in the Wayans Bros. film Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.
