Biography
Originally from Hollywood, CA, Kimberly Douglas has over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry both in front of and behind the camera. Starting in South Florida as an actress and model, she has starred in dozens of commercials, infomercials, and studio and independent films.
Kimberly Douglas, a first generation Guyanese-American, is the eldest of 2 children and was raised in the San Fernando Valley, an original "Vally Girl". Her family bears a lineage of artists, musicians, dancers and poets. Her education began at Our Lady of the Valley, a private, Roman Catholic school, prior to being identified as "gifted". She transferred to the Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies (SOCES) to study art, as she also desired an education as a creative from early on.
When her mother married, she moved home to Guyana, South America and continued her Roman Catholic studies at Bishops’ High School. There, she was in the top percent of her class and practiced competitive elocution, open-water swimming, bass steel pan, debate and business. She also did a short stint at Christ the King High School in Antigua where she joined the volleyball team.
Upon returning to the US, she attended honors classes Miami Killian High School and later was in the first graduating class of Barbara Goleman Senior High School, also in Miami. The youngest in her class and a member of The National Honor Society, she again graduated in the top percentage of her class and was a member of the Goleman Jewels, the dance team.
Awarded as a Florida Merit Scholar between her academic performance and high SAT scores, she received a stipend and a full scholarship to MDCC (Miami Dade Community College) where she was joined the Honors Program, and attended honors classes exclusively. She received an Associate in Arts for her Pre-Law studies. At MDCC she was regularly in circulation in campus and county periodicals for her volunteer work and advocacy within the community, like with the mobile Vietnam Veteran War Memorial; "The Wall".
A member of Phi Sigma Theta, the University-level National Honor Society, she was recognized for her academic prowess and not only represented the school at Model UN with high scores but attended The Women as Leaders seminar in Virginia and was welcomed to The White House by the Clinton Administration. Upon graduating Cum Laude, she began her 3-year tenure on The National Dean’s List and gained a full scholarship to The University of Florida, UF.
At UF, she engaged in much of the same work volunteering and was active in the Student Union. She worked in the Political Science department and co-founded BPSA, the Black Political Science Association. During her Presidency, she attended a grassroots outreach training seminar in Santa Barbara, CA with "Neighbor to Neighbor" where she was able to return to UF and increase voter turnout in Alachua County by over 300%. She also successfully managed Florida House of Representatives' campaigns for Democrats Edward Jennings Jr. and Republican Perry C. McGriff. Kimberly graduated Cum Laude with bachelor’s degrees in International Relations and Cultural Anthropology from University of Florida. She also received an honorary Liberal Arts degree from FIU for her contributions.
As opposed to accepting admission to Levin School of Law at UF, Kimberly pivoted to entertainment. Starting in South Florida, and finally returning home to Los Angeles, she ultimately familiarized herself with all aspects of production and gained SAG eligibility. She has co-founded New Concepts Films and has worked in the capacities of writer, producer, director, editor, script supervisor, casting director, and Executive Producer for multiple projects.
She held the position of Production Coordinator for S.A.S. Movies, building out a branch for the studio in Horse Cave, KY. and opening a restaurant, The Midway Cafe. She was also Vice President of Development at URBT+, creating their conservative news network and Bitcoin mining operation. Kimberly continues to hold a position on the board of BlokTech Network and earned certification in Digital Currencies from The University of Nicosia in order to bolster her ability to integrate block-chain technologies into the entertainment industry.
Kimberly works closely with state film commissions to assist filmmakers in navigating their incentive packages. She found a love for representation within the industry during the years she was General Manager for The Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival. As such, she is currently President and Co-founder of The FLOW (Florida Leaders Opening Worlds) Film Festival and Film Market in honor of her grandmother, Syble G., a seasoned artist and published poet who has been deemed a national treasure in Guyana, S.A. In the festival, contributions made by women in production in non-traditional roles are celebrated and guaranteed distribution should they win and there is a specialty namesake award for filmmakers presenting content that documents the lives of women.
Kimberly’s experience in content creation and curating is extensive. She brought her vast skill set to The Los Angeles Tribune when she launched their inaugural International Film Festival in 2025, as their Associate Festival Director. Her community outreach endeavor is The FLOW Project, where she educates under-served youth about production and offers pathways to employment. FLOW added a music festival to their lineup for 2026 at The Hard Rock Guitar Rooftop, celebrating the original music created by FLOW Films in 2025. Kimberly continues to give a voice to those who are underrepresented in our government and media as a whole. She lives in Hollywood, FL with her husband, 4 children, and their dog Rockie, continuing her mission to bridge Hollywood East and Hollywood West.
