Biography
Mexican actress Angélica Rivera Hurtado was born in Mexico City on August 2, 1970. Her parents are María Eugenia Hurtado and Manuel Rivera. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Mexico City and completed her studies there as well. Talented, with a charming face and slender figure, she decided to participate in the country's most popular event, the Face of El Heraldo de México, in 1987. Angélica won at 17 years old, just months before officially becoming an adult. Singer Luis Miguel chose her to appear in his music video "Ahora Te Puedes Marchar," which helped her gain recognition. She received several offers to be the face of advertising campaigns and later co-hosted a music video program with Martha Aguayo called TNT.
Her opportunity to become a soap opera actress came in 1989 when she debuted in the telenovela "Dulce Desafío," sharing credits with Adela Noriega and Eduardo Yáñez. Rivera proved to be a talented actress and quickly received more roles. She starred in "Simplemente María" also in 1989, and was one of the main cast members in the popular 1991 telenovela "Alcanzar una Estrella," alongside well-known actors such as Celso González, Bibi Gaytán, Erick Rubín, Pedro Fernández, Sasha Sokol, and Ricky Martin. In 1993, she appeared in "Sueño de Amor," and two years later, in 1995, she gained international recognition with the production "La Dueña," acting alongside Francisco Gattorno. This telenovela was the highest-rated for that year.
Later, producer José Alberto Castro cast her as the protagonist in his telenovela "Ángela," where she starred opposite actor Juan Soler. In 2001, she again starred with actor and Puerto Rican singer Carlos Ponce in the telenovela "Sin Pecado Concebido." Always portraying good characters, she took on her first villain role in the 2003 telenovela "Mariana de la Noche," delivering a splendid performance that demonstrated her versatility and ability to play diverse roles.
Regarding her personal life, Angélica fell in love with producer José Alberto Castro, and they married in 2004. They had three beautiful children: Sofía, Fernanda, and Regina. Her face has been the official image for products dedicated to female skincare. In 2007, she starred in the telenovela "Destilando Amor," playing the character Gaviota, once again alongside Eduardo Yáñez. That same year, she was given the opportunity to host the program "Por Siempre," a tribute to the career of the great Vicente Fernández.
In 2008, she was once again the official image of the State of Mexico. However, due to marital problems, she divorced Castro. After the civil divorce, Rivera sought the annulment of her religious marriage in the Catholic Church, which was granted a year later. In 2010, she married for the second time, this time to the former Governor of the State of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, with whom she continues to maintain an excellent relationship.
