Biography
Stephen Joel Brown is an Emmy-nominated television and motion picture producer and executive. Throughout his career, he has held senior executive and board member roles at an internationally based, publicly traded motion picture finance, distribution, and marketing/licensing company, as well as worked as a producer for one of Hollywood's top production firms.
Stephen serves as Executive Producer on the Emmy-nominated Netflix series Emily In Paris, created by Darren Star and starring Lily Collins. Season 5 is set to premiere on December 18, 2025. He also produced the Paramount+/Showtime series Uncoupled, another Darren Star creation, featuring Neil Patrick Harris.
Previously, Stephen was President of Production at Kopelson Entertainment, a leading Hollywood production company. In this role, he oversaw productions including Se7en, the Academy Award-nominated The Fugitive, A Perfect Murder, Devil's Advocate, Outbreak, among others. The films produced during his nearly 12 years at Kopelson have collectively earned over $2 billion at the box office.
Stephen also held the positions of President and CEO of USA-Intertainment Inc., and Deputy Chairman and Executive Board member of its publicly traded parent company, Intertainment AG, based in Munich, Germany. There, he managed co-financing deals for several films with Warner Bros., Twentieth Century Fox, and Paramount Studios.
More recently, Stephen produced The Ottoman Lieutenant, starring Josh Hartnett, Sir Ben Kingsley, Michiel Huisman, and Hera Hilmar. The film was released internationally by Universal Pictures and financed by Y Production, a Turkish film finance company where Stephen served as CEO and directed its U.S. operations.
A native of Los Angeles, California, Stephen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and history from the University of California, Los Angeles. He maintains homes in New York and Los Angeles, and has also lived for many years between Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles.
