Biography

John Erwin is an American actor from Cambridge, Massachusetts, best known for his voice work in animation. He provided the voice for the arrogant and selfish teenager Reggie Mantle in the animated series "The Archie Show" (1968-1969) and reprised this role in several spin-offs through 1977. Erwin also voiced the main hero Prince Adam/He-Man and the secondary villain Beast Man in "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" (1983-1985), along with various minor characters from the series. He returned as He-Man for guest appearances in the spin-off "She-Ra: Princess of Power" (1985-1987).

From the late 1980s onward, Erwin's work was mostly limited to voicing unseen announcers in live-action projects. He briefly came out of retirement in 2005 to voice a He-Man cameo in the animated sitcom "Family Guy." In a 2019 interview, it was revealed that Erwin was living in a retirement community in Thousand Oaks, California. No information about his activities since then is available.
