Biography
Theresa Park is the founder and president of Per Capita Productions, creating TV shows for Apple and Amazon Studios, as well as feature films in collaboration with A24, Universal, Cinereach, Anonymous Content, FilmNation, and other studios and production partners.
She produced Bones and All, Luca Guadagnino's first U.S.-set feature film, starring Timothée Chalamet, Taylor Russell, and Mark Rylance. The film premiered at the 2022 Venice Film Festival and was widely released by MGM in November 2022. It received nominations for Best Feature Film, Best Lead Performance, and Best Supporting Performance at the 2023 Independent Spirit Awards, earned two acting nominations from the Gotham Awards, won the Silver Lion for Best Director at Venice, and saw Taylor Russell honored as Best New Talent.
The film After Yang, which Park produced with Cinereach for A24, premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. It made its U.S. debut at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Alfred P. Sloan Prize, followed by theatrical and Showtime releases. The film earned 2023 Independent Spirit Award nominations for Best Screenplay and Best Director, along with two Gotham Awards nominations for Best Screenplay and Best Actor. Directed and adapted by Kogonada from Alexander Weinstein’s short story "Saying Goodbye to Yang," it stars Colin Farrell, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Justin Min.
Park served as executive producer on Roar for Apple TV+, an anthology series featuring darkly comic feminist fables starring Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Merritt Wever, and Alison Brie. She also executive produced Expats, an Amazon Prime series starring Nicole Kidman, adapted from Janice Y.K. Lee’s New York Times bestselling novel by Alice Bell and Lulu Wang, with Wang directing.
Per Capita is developing multiple film and television projects, including the second feature from Berlinale alumni Chuko and Arie Esiri; Clarissa, a modern-day Nigerian adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway; several adaptations of Nicholas Sparks’s #1 New York Times bestsellers such as The Wish at Universal Studios and Counting Miracles at Amazon Studios; and Sparks’s upcoming novel REMAIN, which Park will produce alongside M. Night Shyamalan, who will write and direct, with producing partners Ashwin Rajan and Marc Beinstock. She is also producing an animated children’s series for Apple+ based on the bestselling The Sisters Grimm series, as well as a TV series adapted from Joel Kostman’s memoir Keys to the City.
Park produced the feature films The Best of Me (Relativity, 2014), The Longest Ride (Fox 2000, 2015), and The Choice (Lionsgate, 2016), all based on Nicholas Sparks novels. She also executive produced the telefilm Deliverance Creek (Lifetime, 2014).
A co-founder of the literary agency Park, Fine, and Brower, Theresa Park spent 30 years as a literary agent representing bestselling commercial fiction and select nonfiction authors. Her clients achieved global bestseller status, blockbuster film adaptations, major publishing advances, and sold millions of books worldwide. A graduate of UC Santa Cruz and Harvard Law School, she lives in New York City. Bringing a uniquely broad creative and business perspective, Park is known for her literary discernment and dedication to championing distinctive stories by fearless auteurs.
