Biography
Nikos 'NIVO' Vourliotis is the lead figure of Goin' Through, one of the most influential hip hop groups in Greece and Cyprus. Over their 20-year career, they have released 11 albums, 3 soundtracks, and numerous compilations and singles, performing live for thousands of fans both domestically and internationally (USA, UK, Cyprus, Holland, Germany, etc.).
Throughout two decades, NIVO has collaborated with leading Greek record labels such as BMG, Universal Music, EMI, and Sony Music, and has worked alongside top artists including Anna Vissi, Despoina Vandi, Giorgos Mazonakis, and Antonis Remos.
His 2004 album, 'La Sagrada Familia,' which earned a Golden Disc, featured the involvement of Guru (leader of Gang Starr and Jazzmatazz), with NIVO contributing lyrics to one track. In the album 'Vendetta,' also awarded a Golden Disc, its lead single garnered 200,000 downloads. NIVO successfully convinced 7L & Esoteric, one of America’s most respected underground groups, to produce and co-write a song for Goin' Through, which became an instant club hit in Greece. Beyond Goin' Through, NIVO is recognized as Greece’s top Hip Hop & R'n'B DJ and is internationally acclaimed as one of Europe’s most current DJs.
Since 1997, his record label, Family The Label, has been releasing Hip Hop and R&B records that blend mainstream and underground elements. He is also active in event production, having organized parties for over 11 years. In Greece, he is a notable TV personality, hosting the show 'Street Beat' from 1997 to 2009 on MAD TV, Greece's leading music channel. The program is the only TV show dedicated to urban music and culture.
Since autumn 2009, NIVO has hosted his own late-night talk show on ANT1 TV titled "Kalinixta Ellada" ("Goodnight Greece").
In 2005, NIVO received one of Greece’s most prestigious honors, being named Man Of The Year / Most Stylish Man of The Year by Status magazine. Three years later, he was selected for New Era's "Capture The Flag" project alongside global celebrities. He designed his own limited-edition 59FIFTY hat for New Era, released worldwide. He is also the owner and designer of the well-known fashion brand LaVUE (www.lavuefashion.com), created in collaboration with a French design team. His latest ambition is the film industry; he played a significant role in the Greek blockbuster "Lufa & Apallagi - I4" (which sold over half a million tickets), earning critical acclaim. Goin' Through composed the soundtrack, which was a major success.
In February 2010, Goin' Through released the e-single "Polla Provlimata," which served as the soundtrack for the Village Roadshow film "180 Moires." Following this, NIVO engaged in multiple collaborations with film production companies and appeared in several movies including "Poker Face," "Akalytpos," "Bachelor," and "Bachelor 2," produced by Showtime Productions and Village. Having earned the respect of numerous established international and local hip hop and mainstream artists, along with the admiration of audiences familiar with urban music and maintaining strong relationships with record companies, NIVO stands as one of the most prominent music figures with boundless potential and opportunities.
