Biography
Jonathan Daniel "Jon" Glaser (born June 20, 1968) is an American actor, comedian, and television writer based in New York City. He is best recognized for his long tenure as a writer and sketch performer on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, as well as for creating and starring in the Adult Swim series Delocated. He currently plays Councilman Jamm, Leslie Knope's rival, in the NBC series Parks and Recreation.
Life and career
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 20, 1968, Glaser grew up in Southfield, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan, where he performed with the sketch comedy groups Comedy Company and Just Kidding alongside Jon Hein. Glaser is a five-time Emmy nominee as part of the writing team for Late Night with Conan O'Brien. His film appearances include Pootie Tang, School for Scoundrels, and Be Kind Rewind. He has guest-starred on shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm, Wonder Showzen, Bob's Burgers, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Additionally, he lent his voice as a lead actor in animated comedies like Stroker and Hoop, Freak Show, and Lucy the Daughter of the Devil. Beginning in 2012, Glaser took on a recurring role as Councilman Jeremy Jamm, Leslie Knope's adversary, in the fifth and sixth seasons of Parks and Recreation.
Glaser created and starred in Delocated, a live-action Adult Swim series about "Jon," a man in witness protection who has his own reality show. The series concluded with its final episode on March 7, 2013. The character "Jon" from Delocated also appeared as a DJ on an Adult Swim-themed radio station in the video game Saints Row: The Third. In February 2012, Glaser portrayed this character in a series of Subway commercials.
During the mid-1990s, Glaser was part of The Second City's mainstage cast, performing alongside Adam McKay, Rachel Dratch, and Scott Adsit. In the award-winning revue Pinata Full of Bees, directed by Tom Gianas, Glaser performed a song emphasizing the importance of loyalty in friendship, humorously highlighting pretending not to have legs to join a wheelchair basketball league. He also played drums wearing a demonic pig mask during the show's finale and appeared onstage to critique audience members for laughing at jokes he deemed socially irresponsible.
Glaser released his first book, My Dead Dad Was in ZZ Top, on February 8, 2011.
