Thea Camara has been a professional actress for over ten years. Since pursuing her lifelong dream in 2008, she has excelled in everything from quick one-liners to extended monologues, showcasing the versatility essential in the entertainment industry. What began as a childhood dream has blossomed into a thriving career, marked by vibrant and graceful performances that honor the little girl who once feared her dream was lost.
Since 2008, Thea has appeared in numerous films and television shows available on platforms like Amazon, Netflix, AllBlk, and Tubi. While training under Tasha Smith (known for Why Did I Get Married? & Why Did I Get Married, Too?), she refined her vocal skills and sought roles that allowed her to stand firmly in her truth and push beyond her boundaries. Continuously sharpening her craft, Thea has studied with Ivana Chubbuck, Vagabond Chicago, Acting Studio Chicago, J. McNeil Studios LA, and Susan Batson Studio NYC. At Acting Studio Chicago, she trained with award-winning New York actor/director Jerry Kernion. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University, where she specialized in theater.
Recently, Thea portrayed "Vanessa Hubbard" on Fox's 9-1-1 alongside Angela Bassett and Aisha Hinds. She also had a recurring role as "Irma Dunn" on Dick Wolf's Chicago Med, starring S. Epatha Merkerson and Yaya DaCosta. She just completed filming Merry Switchmas, featuring Valerie Pettiford and Peter Parros, playing "Mrs. Bailee Baxter," a diva with a romantic storyline. Her leading roles include notable films such as Sound To Sea, Hood, Before I Do, and Englewood. Working with directors like Spike Lee (Chi-Raq), Andrew Dominik (MindHunter), and Christopher Nolan (Walk Away From Love, 72 Hours), Thea has captivated audiences and colleagues alike.
