Biography
Thomas Poarch is an acclaimed actor, writer, and producer based in New York. He has performed a wide range of roles, from Shakespearean classics to contemporary works by Ionesco, as well as leading parts in both classic and new American musicals. His television credits include numerous contract and co-starring roles on daytime and prime time shows such as "Unforgettable" (CBS), "Gossip Girl" (CW), "Blue Bloods" (CBS), "One Life To Live" (ABC), "As The World Turns" (CBS), "All My Children" (ABC), and "Home Court" (Nickelodeon). As a writer, his work has been produced in Los Angeles and New York for both stage and screen.
In addition, Thomas has appeared in over 50 commercials for brands like Mercedes-Benz, Coca-Cola, AT&T, Locker Room, and Hershey's Chocolate, and served as the national spokesperson for Mercury Insurance. Off-Broadway, he spent five years in the popular production The Awesome 80's Prom and originated roles in new musicals including Arnie The Doughnut, Homo The Musical, and Terms of Dismemberment, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Hinton Battle. His other theater credits include The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (national tour, role of Governor), Urban Cowboy (Broadway reading, Marshall), Victor/Victoria (first NYC revival, King Marchan), Obama 44 (La MaMa, Mel), as well as new works at The Cherry Lane Theater and The New York Theater Workshop.
His film work features roles in several award-winning shorts and independent features, including the lead in Shave, produced by Oscar-winning Killer Films. Collaborating with Broadway writer/director Phillip Oesterman, Thomas co-wrote Take This Show and Shove It!, a country-western soap-opera musical comedy. The show premiered in Houston, TX under Broadway producer Stevie Phillips (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas), and later ran at the Cinegrill in The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles and at The 13th Street Theater in New York, with Thomas starring in all three productions. Recently, he co-wrote, produced, and starred in the original comedy web series Brosephs, which is currently in development for television. Thomas is a member of the Writers Guild of America East (WGA East).
