Biography
MiG's journey to becoming a Final Three contestant on Rockstar: INXS was not the beginning of his career but rather a continuation of his established path that began in Sydney, Australia. Having played in numerous bands during high school, MiG (Miguel Ayesa) launched his professional career as an actor in a pilot for the TV series Mission: Top Secret. He then portrayed Ritchie Valens in Buddy... The Buddy Holly Story, touring throughout Australia and London. There, he performed at The Royal Variety Performance for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and also entertained Princess Diana and her two young sons.
MiG continued to secure roles in various stage shows and tours, but his career gained significant momentum upon his return to London. After a brief role in Rent, he was cast as Galileo Figaro in Queen’s We Will Rock You. His talent soon caught the eye of a casting agent searching for a new frontman for the Australian supergroup INXS on a new CBS TV show. MiG was flown to Los Angeles to compete against other finalists, ultimately placing third in the global competition.
Following this, MiG signed with Decca/Universal Music Group, releasing his self-titled debut album in 2007 across the USA, Canada, Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand. Later that year, he resumed his role as Galileo Figaro in the international tour of We Will Rock You, performing in New Zealand, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok, coinciding with the release of his album in those countries.
In 2008, MiG appeared in Handel’s Messiah Rocks, which was released on CD/DVD in late 2009 and aired as a PBS TV special across the United States. In 2009, he launched the global campaign United As One, raising awareness and funds for the Philippines following the devastation caused by Typhoon Ondoy and subsequent floods.
January 2010 marked MiG’s Broadway debut in Burn The Floor, followed by tours in Australia, Japan, Korea, Canada, and the USA. In September 2010, he opened the first national tour of Rock Of Ages as the iconic rocker Stacee Jaxx. By March 2011, MiG returned to Broadway to reprise the role for the show’s reopening at the Helen Hayes Theatre. In December 2011, he reprised his role in Thriller Live in London.
In May 2012, MiG returned to the Philippines to star again as Stacee Jaxx in a sold-out production of Rock Of Ages. February 2013 saw him reprise Galileo Figaro for the 10th Anniversary World Arena Tour of We Will Rock You, completing successful runs in Finland, Denmark, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Croatia.
In June 2013, MiG went back to the Philippines for a repeat run of Rock Of Ages, once again playing Stacee Jaxx. By August 2013, MiG was preparing for the next phase of his career, which promises more touring and performances featuring his current and upcoming albums.
