Biography

Stoddard W. Kerby, was also known as Joey or Joe by family and friends. Joe was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Joe grew up in Tulare,California after moving from Cambridge, and graduated Tulare Union High School. Soon after, he went into the US Army. When he returned from his service he settled in Los Angeles, CA. where he pursued his love of movies and TV work.

Mr. Kerby was the assistant producer to Mike Garrison of the TV show, The Wild Wild West at CBS studios. He can also be found listed as Joe Kirby in these production stats but Kirby was not the correct spelling of his professional last name. He was assistant producer to The Curse Of King Tut's Tomb, made for TV movie.It is a rare find in the VHS world. Joe spent many years employed at CBS studios in Los Angeles, CA. There was an error published in the book, Frankenstein:The True Story, on page 378. The author, Sam Irvin, entered on his Facebook page, to set the record straight, that Joe never married. Joe was survived by 2 sisters and a daisy chain of nephews and nieces. He was enjoyed for his wonderful sense of style, buoyant laugh, and candor. A private person he protected his family from the ragged edges of his work. Joe was the youngest of 3 children and the only son. An avid reader, he spent hours scouring literature and musical librettos for new entertaining movie idea. His early actor name was Stoddard W. Kerby. Later he took the name Joe Kerby in his producing years in the Stromberg-Kerby Production Company. His photos can be seen on Ava Victoria's web site under "Influencers".
