Biography
Joseph Uliano is the founder and Executive Producer of Black Label Content, an award-winning creative content studio.
BLC's entertainment marketing has produced campaigns for American Idol, The Masked Singer, The Oscars, and the American Music Awards. The studio has collaborated with ABC Entertainment, FOX, NBC Sports, Turner Broadcasting, AMEX, Food Network, Universal Music Group, The American Music Awards, The Emmys, MTV Awards, and multiple global brand launches.
In television, Uliano has executive produced prime-time events such as American Idol: "The Journey Begins," NBC's special "Fireflies: Faith Hill Live," Justin Timberlake's "Man of the Woods Live from Paisley Park," and the 13-episode award-winning series "Dinner with Don Rickles." His credits also include the ABC Fall Preview, Fox's Fall and Winter Previews featuring "Shondaland" and TGIT, as well as Ron White's "Behavioral Problems" for Comedy Central. He has produced musical events including Lana Del Rey Live in Hollywood, Metallica Live in Mexico City, Muse in Madrid, live television events for Darius Rucker, Avril Lavigne's "Best Damn Tour," and Tenacious D's "The Pick of Destiny." As a documentary producer, Uliano earned a Telly Award for Best Cultural Program and the AEGIS Best Documentary Award.
In music content, Uliano has produced some of the most watched live concerts, documentaries, and music videos. His collaborations span a diverse range of artists including Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, U2, Taylor Swift, Foo Fighters, Tom Waits, The Black Keys, Katy Perry, John Mayer, Justin Timberlake, Beck, OneRepublic, Metallica, Bonnie Raitt, Maroon 5, Lana Del Rey, Tim McGraw, David Guetta, Gwen Stefani, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and many others.
Uliano has received Grammy Awards for Best Long-Form Video and Best Short Form Video, along with numerous MTV awards. As an Executive Producer, he has worked with acclaimed creatives and directors such as Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat), Antoine Fuqua, Mark Pellington, Sophie Muller, Wayne Isham, Kevin Kerslake, Shane Ryan Valdez, Todd Strauss-Schulson (Isn’t It Romantic, Final Girls), and Grammy and Emmy winner Thom Zimny.
In the art world, Uliano partnered with fine artist Francesco Vezzoli at the Italian Pavilion of the Venice Biennale to produce an installation titled DEMOCRAZY, featuring Sharon Stone and French philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy as U.S. presidential candidates. He also produced a provocative art installation with Vezzoli that received global acclaim at the previous Venice Biennale and was subsequently exhibited at the Whitney Biennial in New York City. This piece is a reimagining of the 1970s film "Caligula," starring Helen Mirren, Mila Jovovich, Benicio Del Toro, Gerard Butler, Courtney Love, and others, with costumes by Donatella Versace.
Together with artist Bill Barminski, Uliano created a video/art project for Baz Luhrmann's "Something For Everybody," which garnered significant attention and sold over 500,000 copies.
Uliano was invited to join the development "Brain Trust" for Paul Allen's Experience Music Project, where he played a key role in launching programs for the museum.
He holds an MFA from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.
Additionally, from 2001 to 2010, Uliano co-owned IL SOLE on Sunset Strip, a popular Hollywood restaurant recognized by Good Morning America as the "Oscars Hot Spot.
