Biography
Henry Bazemore Jr. was born in Ft. Benning, Georgia, to Henry Bazemore and Loretta Faye Bazemore. His family later moved to Flint, Michigan, drawn by opportunities in the booming automotive industry. It was there that he was raised, starting from modest beginnings. Staying close to home, he attended the University of Michigan. A year before graduating, Henry was encouraged to audition for an open casting call for the Tony Award-winning play, The Grapes of Wrath, where he discovered his passion for acting.
Henry earned a B.A. in English with a focus on writing and a minor in theatre. After graduating, he was accepted into several prestigious acting graduate programs across the U.S., including Cal Arts and DePaul University. Ultimately, he chose to study at the University of Georgia on a full scholarship, supplementing his education at the Actor's Studio in Atlanta and gaining experience on professional stages. He made his stage debut in Richard III at Richmond Shakes, portraying multiple characters such as Sir James Tyrrell, Lord Grey, and Henry, the Earl of Richmond. Although he graduated with honors, Henry believes he truly honed his acting skills while working in LORT and other regional theaters alongside experienced professionals.
This experience led to him being entrusted with lead roles like Henry in Henry V, Cassius in Julius Caesar, and both Theseus and Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He also took on significant supporting roles including Le Bret in Cyrano de Bergerac, Lucentio in The Taming of the Shrew, and Carl in Bus Stop. Shifting his focus more toward film and television, Henry secured a comedic supporting role in Man Alive, based on G.K. Chesterton’s book. Following that, he appeared in various TV shows such as Drop Dead Diva, Sleepy Hollow, and Showtime’s Homeland, with recurring roles on Army Wives, One Tree Hill, and recently, Sundance’s second original series, The Red Road.
