Biography
David Strickland was born on October 14, 1969, in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York. Raised in Princeton, New Jersey, he didn’t consider an acting career until his family moved to Pacific Palisades, a suburb of Los Angeles, during his high school years. Instead of attending college, he joined a theater company and began performing comedy sketches he co-wrote with a friend. To build acting experience, Strickland appeared in 64 student films. His stage work included roles in Biloxi Blues, Bye Birdie, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Pizza Man, and I Won't Dance. He later secured guest roles on Roseanne (1988) and Dave's World (1993), along with recurring parts on Sister, Sister (1994) and Mad About You (1992), where he played Paul Reiser’s scheming co-worker at the Explorer Channel. Outside of acting, he enjoyed golf, making fruit smoothies, and playing competitive paddle tennis. He is best remembered by TV audiences for his role as Todd, the magazine’s music critic, on the NBC sitcom Suddenly Susan (1996), which starred Brooke Shields. Before his untimely death, his recent film work included a lead role in the independent dark comedy Delivered (1998), directed by Guy Ferland, and the character Steve in the popular movie Forces of Nature (1999).
