Biography
Dan is an American screenwriter, director, editor, and producer recognized for works such as The Signal, The Vault (featuring James Franco), The Dark Red, and Tomorrow's Monsters (starring John Boyega and Darren Criss). Passionate about storytelling and filmmaking from a young age, he has spent thirty years working in various roles across numerous film sets. Renowned as an actor’s director, Dan is celebrated for creating character-driven films. In 2007, he co-wrote and co-directed The Signal, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was distributed by Magnolia Pictures. The film earned multiple nominations, including Best Picture at the Sitges Film Festival and the John Cassavetes Award at the Independent Spirit Awards. In 2012, Dan co-wrote and directed the acclaimed sci-fi thriller The Reconstruction of William Zero, along with the award-winning, mind-bending short Ghost of Old Highways. His most recent film, The Dark Red, debuted at the esteemed Austin Film Festival and was released in theaters on March 6, 2020. Currently, Dan is writing, directing, and producing several intellectual properties, including Tomorrow's Monsters, a Flynn Picture Company production starring John Boyega (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) and Darren Criss (Glee, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story); The Mantawauk Caves, a Blumhouse Television/iHeart Podcasts production featuring Jonathan Tucker and Edi Gathegi; and The Passage, starring Dan Fogler and Scott Haze.
