Biography

Tiger Prabhakar, often known as Kannada Prabhakar, was a prominent Indian film actor who rose to fame through Kannada and Telugu cinema, while also appearing in notable Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi films. He began his career in small negative roles and soon became one of the most in-demand villains of the 1970s and 1980s, later transforming himself into a popular action hero in Kannada films through the 1980s and early 1990s.

Renowned for his powerful screen presence, muscular physique, and distinctive dialogue delivery, he connected strongly with mass audiences and helped shape the action-hero image in Kannada cinema. His performances combined intense action with surprising ease in comedy, and he shared memorable on-screen chemistry with leading actresses of his era such as Jayamala and others in several successful films.

Beyond acting, Tiger Prabhakar worked as a director, writer, and producer, contributing to multiple Kannada films from behind the camera and becoming known as a good technician with a deep understanding of commercial cinema. Over a career spanning hundreds of films across languages, he introduced a distinctive Kanglish (Kannada-English mix) style of dialogues and left a lasting legacy as one of the defining action stars of Kannada and Telugu film history.
