Biography
Brionne Davis stars alongside a globally diverse cast in the Oscar-nominated feature film "Embrace of the Serpent," which was nominated for the 2016 Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The film also won the Sundance Alfred P. Sloan Award and was honored at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight. Critics from IndieWire, The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, and Deadline Hollywood ranked it among the top five films of the year, and it was featured in Rolling Stone and Time Magazine. Brionne recently appeared in Season 2 of "Narcos: Mexico" and had guest roles on Hulu's "Castle Rock," created from Stephen King's work and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, as well as Showtime's "Ray Donovan." He is also featured in the dark comedy "Mom and Dad," starring alongside Selma Blair and Nicolas Cage, directed by Brian Taylor.
His stage work includes the revival of "Bent," directed by Moisés Kaufman at Center Theater Group’s Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, the role of Hedwig in the Boxcar Theater’s San Francisco revival of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," Lee in the Off-Broadway Theater Row, NYC revival of "True West," as well as his personal memoir-inspired one-man show "A Noble Exile," and another solo piece titled "Shame."
As a director, Brionne has received recognition for Studio Inst. Global’s production of "Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie," and previously for "Auto Da Fe" at Theater 68’s Five By Tenn festival. His work also includes the feature documentary "Follow Us" and the short film "Glass." He remains committed to service and generosity, consulting on script development for various indie films and drama series.
Brionne also stars in the upcoming film "Moon Garden," produced by the award-winning Fire Trial Films.
A dedicated mentor to emerging entertainment professionals, Brionne has created an online course for actors and directors that offers a comprehensive exploration of the actor’s process and technique. The course aims to empower artists deeply and foster industry leaders and self-actualized storytellers. It draws on his 20-plus years of experience as a professional actor, creator, director, film festival juror, and panelist.
In addition to his roles as director, actor, producer, and mentor, Brionne has taught Acting, Theater History, and Production at Studio Institute Global (Relativity School) at the Downtown Los Angeles Center Studios. He has co-owned AV Studios in North Hollywood and currently serves as Artistic Director and co-mentor at the Anthony Gilardi Acting Studio.
