Biography

Simon Monjack was born on March 9, 1970, in Hillingdon, Middlesex, England. He was primarily known for his relationship with the late film and television star Brittany Murphy, whom he married on April 12, 2007. Brittany Murphy died on December 20, 2009, at age 32, at their home in the Hollywood Hills. Her death remained under investigation for over a year until the Los Angeles County Coroner's office revealed that a documentary titled "Top Priority; The Terror Within" was in production. Deputy Coroner Ed Winters then announced that Brittany’s cause of death was determined to be pneumonia and anemia.

The Los Angeles Police Department and Coroner’s office closed the case without conducting a full autopsy. Brittany’s specimens were nearly destroyed, but her father, AJ Bertolotti, intervened and funded their preservation while seeking a thorough investigation into her death.

Suspiciously, Simon Monjack died five months later, on May 23, 2010, in the same house, reportedly from the same causes—pneumonia and anemia.

Monjack’s grave remained unmarked until 2013, coinciding with ongoing investigations into the true causes behind the untimely deaths of this Hollywood couple.
