Biography
Alex Chorley, 18, is an acclaimed actor, classically trained baritone singer, composer, and filmmaker. Born in London in 2000, he moved to Australia with his family at age 4 before returning to England in 2019. At nine, he made his solo debut at the Sydney Opera House and has since built an extensive professional theatre portfolio. His credits include three seasons with Opera Australia as part of the children's chorus in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Turandot," as well as a principal child role portraying one of the three spirits in "The Magic Flute." He also spent a year performing the challenging role of Michael Banks in the Sydney run of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s musical "Mary Poppins," followed by acting alongside Jack Thompson in the Sydney Theatre Company's production of "Under Milk Wood." Soon after, he appeared in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" at Belvoir Street Theatre and has participated in three pantomime seasons at King Street Theatre in Newtown.
In 2017, he took part in the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) world premiere of "Intersection," a series of scenes reflecting teenage life in Australia. He portrayed the Scarecrow in his school’s production of "The Wizard of Oz" and played Basil Fawlty in the senior acting ensemble's "Fawlty Towers." In his final school year, 2018, he played Demetrius in the school's staging of Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and joined a two-week UK tour with the school music department. During this tour, he performed for HRHs Prince William and Prince Harry at the Westminster Abbey ANZAC Day service, collaborated with the King's Singers, and sang solos at Handel's House and Southwark Cathedral.
His professional work also includes films, commercials, play readings, corporate projects, and numerous vocal recitals, both as a soloist and with the classical vocal group "Divas on Demand." He released his debut experimental/alternative album, 'Parasitia,' and recently launched a new single, 'Face That Knows.' Additionally, he co-founded Lexel Studios with Tess Cornwall. Their recent successes include the experimental web series 'This Room Does Not Exist,' the short film 'Timeout,' as well as other projects like the short film 'Office Complexity' and the comedy mini-series 'Sod’s Law.
