Biography
Beppe Recchia, officially Giuseppe Recchia (Pontenure, 21 May 1934 – Milan, 8 June 2007), was an Italian television director.
He made his television debut at Rai in 1960, collaborating over the years with personalities such as Giorgio Gaber, Cochi and Renato, Franca Valeri, Sandra Mondaini, Pippo Baudo, Enzo Tortora, and many others. In 1971, he co-directed the television miniseries Dad Ubu? alongside Vito Molinari. In 1974, Recchia was awarded the Flaiano Prize for screenwriting. A passionate advocate of modern television comedy, he worked with Roberto Benigni on Onda Libera in 1976. Later, he moved into private television, starting with Telebiella, and subsequently worked with TeleradioCity, Telealtomilanese, and Antennatre, where he directed numerous variety shows including The Squizzofrenico, Better Owls Than Ever, I Did Not Know But I Know, The Telegram, Deal Done (with Ettore Andenna), Or It Goes or Breaks It, Il Guazzabuglio, Il Parapiglio, and, together with Cino Tortorella, La Bribe.
He passed away in Milan after a prolonged illness. On the day of his death, the episode of Colorado, in reply, was dedicated to his memory.
