Biography
Santo D. Marabella, the Reading Eagle's 2018 Entertainment Newsmaker of the Year, was a producer for This is Reading (2017), created by two-time Pulitzer prize winning, Tony-nominated playwright, Lynn Nottage, and Emmy award-winning filmmaker, Tony Gerber. His latest project is Il Mio Posto a Tavola (2025), a first-person documentary about the impact of his adoption from Italy for which he is executive producer/subject. Other projects include: The Caregiver (2022), a short film to raise awareness about family caregivers; Franklin Street Station (2018), a TV pilot he created, wrote and co-produced; and, American Standard (2014), Senior Exploits (2013) and Location! Location! (2010).
Marabella is professor emeritus of management (Moravian University, Bethlehem, PA) but has always had a penchant for the arts, particularly theatre and film. A screenwriter, producer, playwright and director, he chooses projects that advance his mantra of "heart and spirit" - namely, projects that come from the heart and build the spirit. He founded and served as the Film Commissioner for ReadingFilm, the film office in Greater Reading, PA (2006-2018); and co-founded ReadingFilmFEST (2015-present).
Born in Italy, but adopted by his parents, Anna and Sam Marabella and raised in Reading, PA. and was a dog-dad for 12 years to Rafaelle, a flat-coated retriever, a certified therapy dog who also acted.
