Biography
Ayushi Chhabra is a globally recognized actor, television host, and content producer with a career spanning over a decade across various continents, platforms, and genres. Born in India and raised in Nigeria and South Africa, Ayushi offers a unique international perspective that has established her as a trusted figure in entertainment and broadcast media.
She made her U.S. television debut in 2020 as the alien Pel on CBS’s Star Trek: Picard, becoming one of the few South Asian actors featured in the iconic franchise. Her role earned significant acclaim within the Star Trek community, leading to widespread recognition, global fan engagement, and invitations to fan events and interviews around the world.
Ayushi is also known for her roles as Amrita Singh in Netflix’s Resident Evil, Lata in the Amazon Prime film Love Me Stupid, and as Nisha in the 2024 theatrical production Pyar Aur Coffee, presented at the Long Beach Shakespeare Company’s New Works Festival. Her stage work includes Radicals, a Hollywood Fringe Festival show that blended dramatic acting with traditional Bollywood dance.
In addition to acting, Ayushi has made a name as a television host and entertainment journalist. She began as an on-camera news anchor for Africa News Network in South Africa and later became a familiar face on Showbiz India, a nationally syndicated entertainment and lifestyle program catering to the South Asian diaspora in the U.S. Over seven years, she led the community news segment and frequently served as the main host, reaching millions of viewers nationwide. In 2024, she expanded her journalism career as an entertainment correspondent for AVS - Asian Variety Show, interviewing prominent creatives like Aziz Ansari, Riz Ahmed, and filmmaker Gurinder Chadha.
Trained in Broadcast Journalism and Media Studies at Rhodes University, Ayushi skillfully balances storytelling through acting, hosting, and producing. She has appeared in over 50 national and international commercials and print campaigns for major brands such as Google, Apple, Toyota, Samsung, Target, Walmart, Emirates, State Farm, and Mattel. In 2024, she featured on a Times Square billboard as part of Mattel’s national campaign for American Girl, marking a significant commercial achievement.
Her dramatic credits include the award-winning short film Unborn, which addresses female feticide. For her role as Parnita, she won Best Leading Performance at the Uptown Women’s Film Festival of New York.
Off-screen, Ayushi is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness within the South Asian community. In 2023, she and the Showbiz India team received the Changemaker of the Year Award for their impactful work in raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging conversations about mental health in diaspora communities.
