Biography

Michael Carrington is Founder and Executive Producer at Carrington Media. He is best-known as a commissioner of world-class television series and films from his years living and working in the UK.

With an international reputation for nurturing talent and delivering high-quality content, Michael is an outstanding global media executive who has helped leading companies in children's television and digital media gain success across many countries. Programs like Charlie & Lola, Thomas & Friends, The Amazing World of Gumball, The Strange Chores, and breakout success Bluey have triumphed in many territories.

Before devoting his work full-time to Carrington Media, Carrington served as Director of Content at ABC Australia overseeing all genres of entertainment and specialist programming. The impact of his decisions can be seen in the vibrant range of programs the ABC has delivered to audiences under his guidance - Mystery Road, Frayed, Aftertaste, Total Control: Origin, and The Newsreader to name a few. Previously he had worked for some of the world's premier media companies including LEGO Media, Cartoon Network, HIT Entertainment, Zodiak Kids, and BBC Children's.

As Carrington Media's founder, Carrington does more than provide simple business advice. With more than 15 years of broadcast commissioning and editorial experience, he's obsessed with identifying and nurturing new creative talent and helping to bring to life new distinctive animated stories. He also works with clients as a script editor, creative strategist, and mentor.

Carrington is a member of BAFTA (British Academy of Film & Television Arts, ACTAA (Australian Film Institute), the International Academy of Arts and Sciences (International Emmys), Screen Producers Australia, and a founding patron of the Children's Media Foundation. Carrington is a former Board Member of Freeview Australia, and MEDIARING.
