Biography
Frank Moro was a Cuban actor renowned for his success in television telenovelas and films. He was born in Holguín, formerly part of Oriente province in Cuba (now officially recognized as its own province). His parents, Idelfonso Moro and Margot Rueda, had three children: Frank, Fernando, and Flor.
In 1960, when Frank was just 16, his family fled to Miami, Florida, to escape Cuba's communist regime. Frank completed his education in Miami and, upon reaching adulthood, pursued acting. Finding limited opportunities in Miami's performing arts scene, he relocated to Puerto Rico, where the television industry was more vibrant. With his charm and good looks, Frank began his career in supporting roles on television and appeared in films such as "Antesala de la silla eléctrica" (1968) and "Libertad para la juventud" (1970), showcasing his potential for cinema. His innate talent soon led him to leading roles in highly successful telenovelas.
By the mid-1970s, Frank Moro had become a well-known figure in Puerto Rico and across Latin America, regarded as one of Latin television's most sought-after actors. Mexican actor-turned-producer Ernesto Alonso, impressed by Frank's abilities, offered him an exclusive contract with Televisa, Mexico's major network. Recognizing the opportunity, Frank moved to Mexico, where under Alonso's mentorship, he enjoyed significant success in television and film from 1975 through the early 1990s.
Though he thrived professionally, Frank yearned for his family and friends in Miami. Eventually, he accepted a contract with Univision, a Miami-based network, to host a show broadcast throughout the Americas. At the height of his career, Frank Moro's life was tragically cut short by a heart attack at age 49, a loss that deeply affected Latin entertainment and his fans. He was survived by his family in Miami and a son, also named Frank, born in Puerto Rico during a brief marriage.
